How it improves performance
Our hybrid wellhead outlet enables the optical fibers and electric conductor in our optoelectric permanent downhole cable to transition from the downhole to the surface environment where measurement data are acquired.
This outlet is a flameproof enclosure for the prevention and containment of any ignition of downhole fluids, which can create an explosive mixture.
How it works
Potential leaks of well fluids through the optoelectric cable are contained by the hybrid outlet, which provides a pressure chamber with a bulkhead containing optical and electrical penetrations connected to the downhole cable's optical fibers and electric conductor. The surface fibers and conductor are connected to the ambient side of the bulkhead.
The wellhead outlet and bulkhead undergo factory acceptance testing above the working pressure. Outlet seals can be pressure tested during installation. The outlet has a pressure relief port with the fitting secured by a retaining ring to prevent unintentional removal. This port enables relieving any trapped pressure in the event disassembly is required.
