Hybrid bit sets new ROP record for operator in Mexico

A major operator in Mexico achieved an incredible 100% increase in ROP while maintaining steerability using the Spyder™ hybrid drill bit.

During the development of an oil and gas field in Mexico, an operator needed to build the curve using directional drilling. To improve drilling operations efficiency and save rig hours, the operator sought an innovative solution for steerability.

果冻传媒 recommended the Spyder bit because of its enhanced hydraulics and cutting capabilities. The operator leveraged the advanced torque management, PDC durability, and directional control of this drill bit to achieve an ROP 50 m/h higher within the first 800 m than offset wells.

Ultimately, the operator achieved a 100% increase in ROP while maintaining steerability and reaching total depth significantly ahead of plan and faster than offset wells in the field. As the first deployment of the Spyder bit in North America, this success presents possibilities for enhanced efficiency and innovation in the development of the field.
